Glastonbury - The best performances of the weekend
Through the lens of the Bloom founder, Daniel.
Full disclosure - I didn’t go to Glastonbury, I watched it live on TV over the weekend. I love live music but also love sleeping in my own bed. This year’s lineup was mixed, with some great artists and some questionable headliners, although Coldplay won me over in the end! See below some of my favourite performances from the weekend:
1. Little Simz
The 2022 Mercury Prize winner exudes style and confidence, and its infectious watching her play. I noticed a few artists wearing Kilts this weekend. I didn’t expect to see a custom Ed Hardy version, but I was into it.
2. Fontaines D.C.
I have been following Fontaines D.C. for a couple of years now and their new singles "Starburster" and "Favourite" are some of their best. Another Kilt wearer this weekend, and this time by Simone Rocha
3.Blondshell
New to me, Blondshell is band from LA, California with a sound that reminds me of some of the great 90’s bands.
4. James Blake
James Blake, known for his emotionally charged ballads, has created a banger. Who knew:
5. Idles
I’ve seen Idles live a bunch of times and it never gets old, their energy is infectious, and for me, the best performance of the weekend:
6. The Streets
Mike Skinner pushed into the crowd a couple of times without security and dropped the banger of the festival:
7.King Krule
Amazing performance—much more subtle than some of the other artists. It was cute when his daughter came on stage for “Out Getting Ribs.”
8. Peggy Gou (& Sophie Ellis Bextor)
No explanation needed, Murder on the Dancefloor:
